Reports

How to run, view, download, and troubleshoot AI visibility reports in Sill.

Running a Report

To generate a new AI visibility report, navigate to the Reports page from the dashboard sidebar and select the New Report tab.

You'll need to fill in three fields:

FieldDescription
BrandPre-filled from your account. This cannot be changed.
Primary URLYour brand's main website (must start with http:// or https://).
Market SegmentThe market category your brand competes in (e.g. "Enterprise SaaS").

Click Start Report to begin generation. You'll see a confirmation message, and the report will appear in the Report Log tab with a "Generating..." status.

Prerequisites

Before you can run a report, you must:

  • Complete your profile — First name, last name, and company are required. If your profile is incomplete, you'll see a banner prompting you to finish setup.
  • Have report credits — Active subscribers receive a monthly credit allowance. If you have no credits remaining, you'll see a "Reports unavailable" message with an option to purchase more.

Viewing Finished Reports

Switch to the Report Log tab to see all of your reports. Each entry shows:

  • Report Name — Your brand name followed by "Report".
  • Date Created — When the report was triggered.
  • Status/Action — Download button, generating spinner, or failed indicator.

Reports are listed in reverse chronological order (newest first). You can filter by date range using the From and To date pickers at the top of the table.

While a report is generating, the page automatically checks for completion every 10 seconds. When your report finishes, the status will update without needing to refresh the page.

Downloading Reports

Completed reports are delivered as PDF files. Click the Download button next to any completed report to save it.

Who Can Download

You can download reports if any of the following apply:

  • You have an active subscription.
  • You made a one-time purchase.
  • An admin has granted you download access.

If you don't have download access, you'll see a "Purchase to unlock" message instead of the download button. Visit the billing page to purchase access.

Download Details

  • Download links are temporary and expire after 15 minutes. If a download fails, return to the Report Log and click Download again for a fresh link.
  • The downloaded PDF is named in the format: brandname_aivisibility_report_MMDDYYYY.pdf.

Report Statuses

StatusWhat It Means

Purchase to unlockThe report completed, but you need an active subscription or purchase to download it.

Retrying a Failed Report

If a report fails, a red "Failed" indicator and a Retry button will appear next to it. Click Retry to resubmit the report for generation. The report will return to "Generating..." status and you'll be notified when it completes.

Retrying does not consume an additional report credit.

Common Errors

Below are user-facing error messages you may encounter and what they mean.

When Starting a Report

ErrorCause
"All fields are required"One or more of the form fields (Brand, Primary URL, Market Segment) is empty.
"Input exceeds maximum length"The Primary URL exceeds 2,000 characters, or the Brand/Market Segment exceeds 200 characters.
"Please enter a valid URL"The Primary URL is not a properly formatted web address.
"URL must start with http:// or https://"The URL uses an unsupported protocol. Only http:// and https:// are accepted.
"Please complete your profile setup before running reports"Your profile is missing a first name, last name, or company. Go to the setup page to complete it.
"Not authenticated"Your session has expired. Sign out and sign back in.
"No active session"Similar to above — try signing out and back in.

When a Report Fails to Generate

ErrorCause
"Failed to start report"The backend could not begin report generation. This is usually a temporary issue — try again in a few minutes.
"Failed to connect to API"The platform could not reach the report generation service. Check your internet connection, or try again later.
"Failed to retry report"The retry request could not be processed. Try again, or contact support if the issue persists.

Pipeline Errors

Occasionally, a report may fail due to an issue in our analysis pipeline (e.g. an AI model timeout, a data source being temporarily unavailable, or an unexpected response format). When this happens:

  1. The report status will show as Failed in your Report Log.
  2. Click Retry to resubmit — most pipeline failures are transient and resolve on retry.
  3. If the report fails repeatedly, please contact support at daniel@trysill.com with your report name and the approximate time you triggered it.
