Compass
How Sill's Compass generates prioritized recommendations to improve your AI visibility, and how to act on them.
Compass analyzes your monitoring data and generates prioritized recommendations to improve your brand's AI visibility. Rather than guessing what to fix, Compass tells you exactly what to work on and why.
Recommendation Categories
Each recommendation falls into one of these categories:
| Category | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Best Practice | Foundational content and technical optimizations that align with what AI engines favor (structured data, schema markup, content formatting) |
| Strategic Content | New content to create or existing content to enhance based on gaps Sill has identified in your AI presence |
| Off-site Presence | Opportunities to strengthen your brand on external platforms AI engines trust (review sites, YouTube, Reddit, press, Wikipedia) |
| Technical | Technical SEO and structured data improvements that help AI engines parse and cite your content |
| Refresh | Existing content that has gone stale and needs updating to maintain or recover AI visibility |
| Rollback | Changes that appear to have hurt your visibility, suggesting you revert or reconsider them |
| Watchdog Remediation | Actions to address risks flagged by Watchdog, such as correcting misinformation or countering negative caveats |
How Recommendations Are Prioritized
Each recommendation includes an urgency level based on:
- Expected impact on your AI visibility metrics
- Effort required to implement
- Time sensitivity — whether the opportunity is growing or shrinking
Higher-urgency items appear first. Focus on these for the biggest impact with the least effort.
Inbox
The Compass inbox highlights time-sensitive recommendations that need attention soon. These are typically triggered by recent changes in your monitoring data — a new caveat appearing, a competitor gaining ground, or a content piece losing visibility.
Initiatives
Related recommendations are grouped into initiatives — coordinated sets of actions toward a common goal. For example, an "Improve Off-site Authority" initiative might bundle recommendations for getting listed on review sites, creating YouTube content, and earning press coverage.
Initiatives help you plan your work in batches rather than chasing individual recommendations.
Acting on Recommendations
When you implement a recommendation, Sill's Lab (experiments) will automatically detect the change and begin measuring its impact on your AI visibility. This creates a feedback loop: Compass tells you what to do, you do it, and Lab measures whether it worked.
